Following its U.S. FDA approval, the company’s regulatory milestone in Japan establishes a foundation for expanding local sales through its distribution network and accelerating its global expansion in digital orthodontics.
Laon Medi has partnered with Corefront, a Japanese medical device specialist, to prepare for market entry, including regulatory procedures, distribution, and sales. Since August, Corefront has conducted preliminary product testing and sales activities through advance orders. With the regulatory process now complete, the companies are preparing to expand product supply and sales.
Laon Ortho analyzes patients’ oral data using AI to support digital orthodontic treatment planning. By digitizing tooth movement analysis and treatment planning, the software aims to improve clinical workflow efficiency.
Laon Medi plans to leverage Corefront’s local distribution network to expand supply to Japanese dental clinics and orthodontic practices, build a portfolio of real-world use cases, and attract additional customers.
The company also aims to expand its AI medical software business in response to Japan’s growing demand for digital healthcare solutions amid an aging population and healthcare workforce shortages.
A Laon Medi representative said the completion of the Japanese regulatory process and the acquisition of additional orders mark the company’s transition into a new phase of commercialization. The company plans to develop business models tailored to Japanese dental and orthodontic practices and expand its global presence by combining oral data analytics with AI technology.
